Sonnet 116

Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds, or bends with the remover to remove: Oh, no! It is an ever-fixed mark. That looks on tempests and is never shaken

Last of the Free Mornings

Right now, I’m loving that feeling when you look up and suddenly the world is the light blue shade of early morning. It happens a lot when I’m reading a book in the early morning. I’ll try to catch it before it happens. I start to hear the bird’s chirping and I know it’s coming soon. Almost like they are doing their part to wake up the sun. I always try to catch it and then it happens. I look up like I’ve been doing for the last hour and suddenly it’s not dark outside the window. The dark is replaced by the cool blue.

I love going outside when it’s like this no matter how cold it is. I love the smell of it. It reminds me of when I was little and would have to go to church with my Mimi. She had these bushes outside her house and it gave the morning this sweet smell.

It’s all very picturesque and cute until my neighbor comes outside and pees off his porch. I thought this was weird until the men in my life enlightened me to the fact that sometimes you just have to pee outside. I have to say I don’t get it, but then I’m a girl so the whole idea is unbecoming. All the same it’s become a part of my mornings and I look forward the dependable-ness of it.

I like my mornings too because the bees who have decided they like my house aren’t out yet and the night bugs have gone away for the day. For about and hour or two before they come to take over I can sit on my porch and watch.

I get to see the people rushing off to work. See the birds fly from tree to tree and be alone. I’ll miss it. After today the summer job will start and I won’t be able to stay up all night like this. I won’t get to see my sky turn from blue to a light yellow. It will be dark when I got to bed and light when I get up. But where is the fun in that? I’ve watched the sun got to bed and wake up this morning. What have you done with your life lately?
